Course Overview

The Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30915) and the Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations (RII30815) reflects the role of a skilled operator working in civil construction, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The qualification applies to specialist occupations in Bituminous Surfacing Bridge Construction and Maintenance, Pipe Laying, Road Construction and Maintenance, Road Marking, Tunnel Construction, Timber Bridge Construction and Maintenance and Civil Construction general occupations. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

The Certificate IV in Civil Construction (RII40715) specifies the competencies required for employment as a skilled supervisor working with civil construction. This person typically performs tasks involving a broad range of varied activities most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply management plans to the workplace.

Pre-requisite Information

While there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, for an apprentice pathway the learner must be employed full time or part time and have access to a workplace to be able to gain sufficient experience to successfully complete the Unit of Competency requirements.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion a Statement of Attainment for either Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30915) OR Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations (RII30815) OR Certificate IV in Civil Construction (RII40715).

RPL

Students with prior industry experience may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Students with prior Qualifications and/or Statements of attainment may be eligible for Credit Transfer (CT).
